Domiciliary Health Care Worker Duties

• Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health or behaviour.
• Assist with meal preparation and ensure clients receive proper nutrition.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
• The domiciliary health care worker will support clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of client care and report any concerns to the supervising nurse or manager.
• The domiciliary health care worker should provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
• Implement behaviour management strategies as needed for clients with specific challenges such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
• Drive clients to appointments or social outings as required.

Domiciliary Health Care Worker Requirements

• The domiciliary health care worker should have previous experience in caregiving, assisted living, nursing home settings, or similar roles is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of senior care practices, including hospice care and dementia care principles.
• Certification in First Aid is preferred; training can be provided if necessary.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• The domiciliary health care worker should have a valid driving licence is advantageous for transporting clients when needed.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively.
