We are seeking two skilled Health care Assistant to join the Research Nursing staff of our Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre (M-RIC).

M-RIC is a ground-breaking research facility, delivered as a partnership between Mersey Care and University of Liverpool. Our aim is simple, to improve mental healthcare for all patients and service users, through new uses of existing drugs and researching digital therapies, such as apps and artificial intelligence for delivering virtual talking therapies and new ways to support mental wellbeing.

As a Mersey Care employee, you will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. You will support the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and service-users participating in clinical trials and studies. You will assist the research nurses and multi-disciplinary team in the recruitment, education and monitoring of study or trial patients.

1. Carry out a range of procedures in a range of settings such as designated research spaces, clinics and wards with supervision from trained member of staff.
2. Undertake screening processes such as, blood pressure, height, weight, urinalysis and blood glucose measurements and collection specimens for laboratory investigations.
3. Prepare and clear clinical settings.
4. Assist with assessments and reassessments.
5. Maintain, order and check expiry date of stock for variety of clinics.
6. Undertake a range of personal care activities with patients such as assisting a patient, service user, or research participant to prepare for assessment or review under supervision of trained staff. This will include maintaining personal dignity and privacy when undertaking these activities.
7. Work within existing clinical guidelines, protocol and infection control procedures.
8. Offer advice to patients and service users and their carers on range of health issues relating to their care pathway or research study or trial under supervision of trained staff.
9. Communicate factual and sensitive information to patients, service users, and carers from diverse backgrounds and/ or with variety of sensory deficits, ensuring strategies are in place to overcome barriers to communication and understandings.
10. Offer a supervised level of psychological support to patients, service users, and carers in a range of situations relating to their care pathway or research study or trial.
