Behaviour Support Worker In London: Sponsorship Available

We are currently recruiting for full time support worker staff to work on established home and community-based programmes across North London, including Camden, Hillingdon, Haringey, and Enfield.

The Support worker will work as part of a team supporting service users with primary diagnoses of autism and learning disabilities across North London with a focus on life skills and community participation. We accept experienced graduates, professionals from other disciplines interested in supporting teenagers and young adults in their home and local community, and candidates who have previously worked in ABA or PBS settings. We are a 7 day a week service – successful candidates should be available to work across both weekdays and weekends.

You will be fully supervised and should be available to work some evenings and weekends. We require all Beam staff to adhere to our Code of Conduct.

Duties

• The Support worker will assist in the implementation of person centred programmes utilising Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support best practice
• The Support worker will support service users by teaching functional skills, developing communication systems, enhancing social skills under a framework that provides choice and promotes empowerment.
• The Support worker will monitor and take accurate data daily as per service users’ targets
• The Support worker will support individuals during times of crisis – e.g., behaviours of concern.
• To assist service user with self-help skills including personal care and hygiene needs (e.g., toileting, nappy changing, feeding, bathing, nail cutting, and medication)
• The Support worker will model best practice and professionalism at all times
• The Support worker will ensure all programme materials are organised and accessible
• The Support worker will attend mandatory trainings, team meetings and self-directed e-learning modules
• The Support worker will promote safeguarding and wellbeing for service user to the highest standard
• The Support worker will implement restrictive techniques per service users positive handling plan as required
• Flexibility to support service user during evenings and weekends
• Other duties as required by your manager

Required qualifications and skills

• 1 year of applied experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
• Experience of supporting individuals who are non-verbal, with experience of promoting alternative modes of communication.

Preferred qualifications

• Undergraduate Degree in Psychology or related field.

• 2+ years of applied experience working with with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
• Experience of supporting individuals who may display behaviours of concern.
• Experience utilising ABA/PBS methodology
• Clean drivers license.
