Job summary

The health care assistant will be working closely with a friendly supportive team of Doctors, Practice Nurse’s, HCA’s, Urgent Care Practitioners and Care Coordinators, delivering service to over 22,000 patients across our three sites in the north or Bristol.

Main duties of the job

The health care assistant will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing care for patients, whilst promoting health and wellbeing within the practice.

The health care assistant has the ability to work professionally, calmly, and independently with a proactive approach.

The health care assistant will have high standards of HCA care, and duties will include all task normally undertaken by a Health Care Assistant.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work under indirect supervision of the Nurse Clinical Lead and undertakes task and duties delegated by the Nurse Clinical Lead, or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients and following policy and procedures.

 

To support the practice to ensure compliance with its statutory and regulatory obligations, such as but not limited to the Care Quality Commission and Data Protection Act 2018(GDPR)

 

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general education with demonstrable ability in Mathematics and English Language desirable.
  • Experience of maintaining and manipulating computerised and/or paper-based data/information.

Desirable

  • Working towards the 15 essential standards of the Care Certificate.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to handle face to face and telephone enquiries in a professional manner.
  • In communication, ability to assess any given situation and to respond in the appropriate manner, with a high degree of tact & diplomacy.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work, and to adhere to deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to handle information securely and confidentially.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on own initiative dealing with confidential issues.
  • Ability to act on own initiative when delivering patient care whilst accessing suitable supervision.
  • Able to work efficiently and with a great degree of accuracy.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a GP Practice or NHS environment.
  • An awareness of equal opportunities.
  • An awareness of Health and Safety within the workplace.
  • Experience of working in a service orientated environment.
