We are seeking to recruit a Health care Assistant to join our team based at Wenric House.

Wenric House is a 21-bedded low secure forensic ward for male adult, offering services to people suffering from enduring mental illness. We work within the principles of the recovery model and encourage families’ involvement with those in our care.

 

Health Care Assistant Main duties of the job

The health care assistant will be expected to contribute and participate under supervision in the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of care and treatment for people with mental health problems.

It is mandatory for you to complete PEACE Training and other training directly related to the job.

You will work a rotating shift pattern to cover our 24 hours 7 day a week service. All candidates must be computer literate.

Job responsibilities

The role of a Healthcare/Support Worker within Forensic Inpatient Services is a core member of the ward team. Working under the supervision of qualified nursing staff you will deliver care to mentally disordered patients and assist in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of their nursing care needs.As a member of the ward team, you will actively contribute to a positive environment in which excellence in care can flourish.

Person Specification

Qualifications – Academic/Skills/Professional

Essential

  • Must have a good educational background
  • Must have good IT skills

Other requirements

Essential

  • Must be physically able to complete PEACE Training – will be a mandatory requirement if you are successful in your application.

Experience

Desirable

  • Previous knowledge of the role would be an advantage. Previous experience working in Mental Health

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Calm with good interpersonal skills
