Job summary
We require a staff nurse at our Adult Inpatient Unit. Our Adult Inpatient Unit has recently undergone a £5, million-pound modernisation project, which was completed in September 2023. Our inpatient areas have been completely refurbished in line with national guidance for safety standards, complete with enhanced safety features using the latest healthcare technology innovation.
In Doncaster we are part of the All-age Mental Health Services, our inpatient services consist of two 20 bedded adult acute ward and a 6 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care unit (PICU).

POST SUMMARY: We are looking for a Band 5 RMN to join our dedicated nursing team in Doncaster, if you are a committed registered nurse who is motivated and committed to enabling the recovery of people with acute mental ill health then we are keen to hear from you. At Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, we value our staff and offer ongoing support through clinical and managerial supervision, and we offer in-house and external training, as well as opportunity to be involved in our inpatient development programme offered by our senior clinical leadership staff.
Staff Nurse Main Duties
You will be the named staff nurse for a group of patients on the ward, this involves planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in line with the Care Programme Approach (CPA)
The staff nurse will demonstrate nursing practice is up to date and evidence based
The staff nurse will spend therapeutic time building relationships with patients and carers and delivering care in accordance with care plans.
The staff nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary team on the ward and community teams and other professionals who are involved to achieve continuity of care for our inpatients
The staff nurse will promote effective working by supervising junior colleagues, sharing the best practice guidance and evidence-based practice
To undertake and update risk assessments and discuss and inform these to the wider MDT, showing understanding of risk management in your everyday practice
To communicate effectively with the MDT on all clinical matters, with accurate, contemporaneous medical record keeping
To adhere to the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
To operate with policies and procedures of Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust
The post-holder will ensure correct administration of drugs in accordance with the Trust’s Policy and legal requirements.
The post holder will maintain a safe environment for all our patients, visitors and staff.
