Assistant Psychologist Job Summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate Assistant Psychologist to join the Department of Psychological Medicine as part of an established team working with on the Neurorehabilitation Unit at Goole and District Hospital in North Lincolnshire.
The Assistant Psychologist post involves providing psychotherapeutic interventions on a one-to-one basis, completing cognitive assessments, and supporting cognitive rehabilitation programs for people with a range of neurological conditions. Additional responsibilities include supporting the department with service developments, audit, literature reviews and waiting list interventions.
Continuing professional development of our team is important and valued by the department, and therefore there are many opportunities to pursue this. We are dedicated to developing our assistants and helping them in making an application to the Doctorate course.
This post is suited to someone with an interest in working with people with acute and long-term neurological conditions.
Assistant Psychologist Main duties
To support the delivery of highly specialist psychology services within a Level 2a Neurorehabilitation Unit.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- BSc Hons in Psychology
- Counselling / therapy experience
- Previous experience working in a therapeutic role
Desirable
- Achievement of Bsc (hons) 2:1
- Post qualification training in research methods and analysis
Occupational Experience and Abilities
Essential
- Current UK driving licence. If it is essential that you are to travel independently across the locality, you must have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- An enthusiasm for a broad range of psychological phenomenon, including psychological therapy, knowledge and skills.
- Experience of carrying out cognitive tests, including administering and scoring.

- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

- Ability to communicate effectively at both written and oral level, including sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional people within and outside the NHS.
