Charity Events Volunteer – Sponsorship Opportunity

Charity  Volunteers are a valued and important asset to our healthcare services. Within the RWT Charity, we are looking for volunteers to help engage with our staff and community, promote our purpose and support our events.

You could be doing anything from having a stand at the hospital site, walking the wards/departments talking to staff, being out at community locations talking to the public about the work of the Charity, welcoming participants, helping set up events, selling merchandise or cheering on our fundraisers. Whatever your role, we guarantee you’ll have a satisfying time!

Role of the Charity Volunteer

–        Be welcoming and friendly to all visitors and know when to respect personal boundaries.

–        Promote our appeals by displaying appeal materials in the local community such as posters and leaflets

–        Attend community fairs with appeal literature and organising events to raise funds for appeals

–        Engage with local businesses and companies to support our appeals and provide them with fundraising merchandise to assist them in their efforts

–        Visit local schools and update them on the work we do and how they can get involved and support our mission.

–        Organise supermarket and street collections in your local community throughout the year.

–        Organise fundraising events such as raffles auctions, community days

–        Distribute collection tins in your local area, e.g. placing and changing collection tins in local businesses and shops.

–        Attend community fairs promoting appeals and organising events to raise funds for appeals.

–      Meet people and be enthusiastic, friendly and supportive

–        Have good IT and admin skills for some roles

–        Be trustworthy

–        Be knowledgeable about the local area

–        Be an ambassador for the Charity and spread the word about the work that is done

–        Support the delivery of events and workshops as required, gathering key literature to take out to events

–        Promote upcoming events and activities with visitors

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

participants, helping set up events, selling merchandise or cheering on our fundraisers. Whatever your role, we guarantee you’ll have a satisfying time!

We are looking for volunteers who are able to fulfil the following criteria:
– Be over the age of 18.
– Be comfortable approaching and speaking to members of the public.
– Be welcoming and friendly to all visitors and know when to respect personal boundaries.
– Promote our appeals by displaying appeal materials in the local community such as posters and leaflets
– Attend community fairs with appeal literature and organising events to raise funds for appeals
– Engage with local businesses and companies to support our appeals and provide them with fundraising merchandise to assist them in their efforts.
– Visit local schools and update them on the work we do and how they can get involved and support our mission.
– Organise supermarket and street collections in your local community throughout the year.
– Organise fundraising events such as raffles auctions, community days
– Distribute collection tins in your local area, e.g. placing and changing collection tins in local businesses and shops.
– Attend community fairs promoting appeals and organising events to raise funds for appeals.
– As per Trust policy, we will require volunteers to complete a brief Occupational Health assessment and be DBS checked (The Trust will support this)

Volunteers will need to:
– Meet people and be enthusiastic, friendly and supportive
– Have a friendly approachable manner and must be able to communicate with people of all ages, needs and backgrounds.
– Have good IT and admin skills for some roles
– Be trustworthy
– Be knowledgeable about the local area
– Be passionate about their local hospitals
– Be an ambassador for the Charity and spread the word about the work that is done
– Support the delivery of events and workshops as required, gathering key literature to take out to events

– Expenses – reasonable expenses incurred as a result of your volunteering will be reimbursed, according to the Trust’s Volunteering policy.

We ask our volunteers to only give as much time as they can. Our roles are designed to accommodate your particular interests and we always try to work around you. This role will require some flexibility as attending
events may take place on an evening or weekend. If you don’t have your own transport, it would be an advantage to have access to good transport links. We will ensure you are inducted into your role and our
organisation, and we also provide opportunities throughout the year for you to meet other volunteers. On going support in your role will be provided.
