Support Worker  Key Responsibilities:

– Triage telephone calls, providing general information, help, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
– Support the registered nurse in tracking and coordinating patient pathways from diagnosis.
– Contribute to Holistic Needs Assessments and care planning under the direction of registered nurses.
– Implement, monitor, and review aspects of care plans, reporting changes in patient conditions.
– Develop information packs to support patients affected by head and neck cancer
– Coordinate appointments and investigations to facilitate efficient patient care
– Provide Level 1 psychological support to patients and carers

Head and Neck Support Worker Qualifications and Skills:

– GCSE English Language and Mathematics (A-C) or equivalents
– NVQ 3/4 or equivalent qualification[2]
– Relevant health or social care experience at band 3 or equivalent
– Experience in caring for patients with head and neck cancer
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
– Proficiency in IT and data management systems
