We are looking for enthusiastic Health care Assistants to join our expanding team. You must be passionate about improving service users quality of life  be able to role model and work as a team.  The individuals we care for are at the most challenging times of their lives and need individuals that have a degree of resilience and can show they can care for them with compassion and empathy.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of highly skilled and committed individuals ensuring that person centred and holistic care is provided at all times.

We provide a person centred activity plan which incorporates activities in house and within the local community.

The successful candidate must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent.  Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role).

The successful candidates who do not have the required qualifications will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework which will include the acquisition of the level 2 Diploma Health and Social Care, level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent and achievement of competencies. You will have a maximum of 2 years to complete this.

Experience

Essential criteria

• Previous experience of working with learning disabilities and or autism (Trainee Post: no essential experience required)

Desirable criteria

• Previous experience of working with people with mental/social health needs or learning disabilities.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Knowledge of person centred care
• Basic understanding of learning disability.

Skills

Essential criteria

• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritise effectively
• Competency in record keeping (within agreedtimescale)
• Approved techniques in physical intervention (within agreed timescale)

Desirable criteria

• Competency in venepuncture

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Diploma in Health and Social Care level 2 or equivalent (Trainee: must be achieved within 2 years of commencement inpost)
• Care Certificate (Trainee: must be achieved within 12 weeks of commencement in post)
• Successful completion of Trust’s full HCA Framework within 6-month probationary period
• Key skills in Literacy and Numeracy level 2 (Trainee: Successful completion of the Trust’s full HCAFramework, including key skills in Literacy and Numeracy level 2, within 2 years of commencement in post)

If the contract type on the vacancy states ‘Fixed Term’ this would mean the vacancy is being advertised to address a temporary need for the duration stipulated on the advert, however, in the event that permanent funding is secured for the post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Trust Welcome Day

Here at Tees, Esk and Wear Valley Foundation NHS Trust we want you to have a positive experience when you start your new role with us. To ensure you have great welcome, for all new starters joining the Trust, we offer two start dates per month on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of that Month.

On your start date, you will be invited to our in person Trust Welcome Day at our Flatts Lane Centre, Middlesborough. Your first day will be engaging and informative, it will allow you to meet and network with a range of Trust staff, learn more about us and what we offer. For certain clinical roles, your Welcome Day could then be followed by up to 9 days face to face training. If this is applicable to you, further information will be provided ahead of your Welcome Day.
