Health Care Assistant Job Summary

An exciting Health Care Assistant opportunity to join our Team at University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundations Trust. One of these roles will be based at either Worthing or St Richard’s hospital, Chichester and one at either Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton or Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath with some travel required across sites. Our service provides outstanding care for patients with cancer. We are a friendly cohesive team and require a focused, committed, enthusiastic individual.

You must be a motivated individual with a flexible approach to work and will be a vital part of the Cancer Information and Support Service team in helping to deliver high level services to all patients.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our friendly team. The Cancer Information & Support Service provides non-clinical advice, guidance and signposting to all patients from point of diagnosis. This includes emotional support, financial and practical guidance and referrals as well as resources to support patients with physical and nutritional advice.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Macmillan Information and Support Manager and have had experience in leading a team through change.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English C or above, or equivalent
  • Degree or equivalent (Lvl 5+) in Health and Social Care or short courses with practical experience

Desirable

  • Coaching or Teaching qualification
  • Willingness for further training or professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Proven team leading / managerial experience
  • Shows experience leading a team through change

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a related health and social care setting
  • Experienced with managing through disciplinary processes

Skills

  • Use of own initiative
