About the Role:

As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. Your primary responsibility will be to take blood samples as requested by our GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), and Practice Nurse. Additionally, depending on your experience, you will measure and record various observations such as blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight in your clinic.

– Senior Practice Nurse

Essential Skills:

– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

– High standard of literacy and numeracy skills

– Proficiency in IT

– Caring and proactive nature

– Up-to-date Phlebotomy certificate

Desirable Skills:

– Health care certificate- Previous primary care experience

– Experience in ECG taking

– Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting

– Ability to work autonomously

– Skills in urinalysis

– Skills in observation taking

– Knowledge of EMIS or similar systems

– Understanding of QoF (Quality and Outcomes Framework)

Role and Responsibilities:

-Primary responsibility is taking blood samples requested by GPs, ANPs, and Practice Nurse.

– Depending on experience, measure and record observations such as blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, etc., during clinic sessions.

– Perform ECGs, with training provided if necessary.

– Ensure samples left at reception (e.g., urine/faeces) are correctly labeled and stored in the appropriate specimen container.

-Urinalysis: Conduct urinalysis, including dipping urine samples to check for blood, ketones, glucose, etc.

– Chaperoning:Act as a chaperone for other clinical staff when needed.

-Responsible for stocking up clinical rooms and liaising with the Practice Nurse regarding stock levels.

-Conduct new patient screening, NHS health checks, and smoking cessation sessions.

-Maintain patient confidentiality and promote health, dietary, and lifestyle advice.
