Health Care Assistant Main duties
The health care assistant will deliver essential care in an in-patient setting. The work you do will be crucial to the running of our hospital and the recovery of our patients.
As a community hospital Health care Assistant, you’ll:
- Work as part of a team to provide care to local patients and families
- monitor the quality of care they’re receiving
- provide feedback to managers on the quality of care.
Your patients could be any age, but they’ll often be elderly, while others may have been recently discharged from acute hospital, be terminally ill or have physical disabilities.
As a Health care Assistant you will work as part of a team to keep people safe and well during their stay. You will carry out care plans designed to support people and make sure that people who use our services have a good experience.

Additional Working Pattern: Working a mix of long days, early and night shifts over a 7 day roster

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant level 2 qualification (NVQ / QCF certificate of care / apprenticeship) or equivalent Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)
Experience

- Experience in a health or social care setting Experience of working as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Experience of community environment
Knowledge

- Awareness of fundamental care needs Knowledge of up to date clinical practice. Understands the role and remit of an Unregistered worker
