Health Care Assistant Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health care Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Winchester, a Category B male prison just outside of the city centre. HMP Winchester has free onsite parking as well as excellent transport links – there is a bus stop opposite the site and the train station is a 10 minute walk.
This health care assistant is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. HMP Winchester is a remand prison with capacity of around 650. Hours: This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, and you will work on rotational shifts, including weekends. Shift patterns are usually 07:30 – 21:00 – 3 long shifts per week.
Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary up to £29,085 per annum – depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As our new Health care Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
- Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
- Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
- Support the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care on the wings and healthcare centres
