Job summary Healthcare Assistant

If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with previous experience within a hospital environment, then we have just the role for you.  We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join team in our outpatients department at Southampton Hospital to support the professional staff with the overall responsibility for all patients in the outpatient department. You will be a valued member of the outpatients team ensuring that all treatments given meet individual patient needs, within the agreed patient care pathways. Enabling patients to make informed decisions about their treatment and general welfare and keep comprehensive records in respect of all patients. This role will have clinical and technical responsibilities along with some administrative duties.

We have 2 positions available, 1 of which will not have a start date until 1st July 2024    This role requires applicants to have the right to work in the UK

 

Main duties of the job Healthcare Assistant

As a Healthcare Assistant in our Southampton team you will be responsible for assisting the nursing team with patient care, coordinating clinics, administration, stock control and equipment maintenance.

Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

Shift patterns – 1 X 8-5.30, 3 X 8-6 = 37.5hrs 4 days a week  Monday -Saturday

 

About us

An experienced individual with an NVQ level 2 in health and social care. There will be plenty of further learning opportunities including internal and external training modules if desired. It would be an advantage if you have worked in acute healthcare environment. More important though is your flexibility, your knowledge of infection control, belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload. The ideal applicant will have

  • Have already achieved NVQ 2 in health and social care
  • Current Phlebotomy experience in hospital or GP surgery is desirable
  • Experience or a good understanding of a HCA duties and responsibilities
  • The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
  • Someone with the flexibility to fit into internal rotating shift pattern.
