Mental Health Worker Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Worker to work in the Early Years part of Wandsworth CAMHS based within Wandsworth Borough Early Years settings. Wandsworth CAMHS Under 5s team offers early intervention and preventative work to children and their families. Established 14 years ago, the team is highly regarded by the Trust, the Local Authority and the CCG. The team works closely with staff from the perinatal service, nurseries and children’s centres in Battersea, Tooting and Roehampton, and offers appointments in the community and in family homes.
The successful candidate will work as part of the existing Tier 2 CAMHS team based within Wandsworth Children’s Centres to support young children with attachment, separation, emotional and behavioural regulation difficulties from nurseries and schools across Wandsworth.
Mental Health Worker Main duties
- Be responsible for the provision of specialist assessments and interventions. to children aged 0-5 years and their carers, as well as offer consultation and support to professionals in health, education and social care.
- Have experience in working with families and young children who are displaying difficulties with attachment, separation, emotional and behavioural regulation.
- Facilitate and support the running of groups such as the Incredible Years and the Toddler Group
- Have a keen interest in multi-agency working.
- Have the relevant professional registration:Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist,Art or Drama Therapist,Family Therapist,Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Qualification(s) in one of the following disciplines: Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Art/Drama Psychotherapy, Systemic Family Therapy (+ relevant prior professional qualification) OR a core qualification in .
- Registered with an appropriate professional body (HCPC, NMC, ACP, UKCP; for Dance and Movement Therapists registration with the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK (ADMP UK).
- Where an applicant is in the final stages of training and has not yet obtained registration, an applicant will only be made an offer conditional upon successful registration within a time-scale that is specified.
Desirable
- Training as part of a CYP IAPT collaborative in a recognised evidenced based approach in early years or infant mental health
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people in a variety of clinical and community settings
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
- Experience of inter-agency working
- Experience of safeguarding and Child Protection
Desirable
- Experience of leading case reviews
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
