Job Summary
We are inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the post of
and Administration Co-ordinator at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
This is a varied role and would suit a candidate who is a competent administrator ideally with administrative experience in an NHS Mortuary environment. This role will also provide an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a further career within the Mortuary sector. You will have a caring, empathetic, and confident nature and be adaptable to a fast- paced working environment.
The post holder will need to have a flexible approach to daily tasks, demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, liaise with others and have an excellent attention to detail.
The work will include assisting with the care of patients, liaising with external and internal service users, developing working relationships with these users, working with families, and ensuring HTA and UKAS standards are followed.
Knowledge and experience of managing Electronic Patient Records and computer software including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel will be required.
Main duties of the job
- To be the first point of contact for referrers and other healthcare professionals, managers and staff contacting the department. This maybe in person and on the telephone or email. These must be dealt with politely and efficiently and may be of a difficult and sensitive nature. It will be essential that patient confidentiality is maintained
- To have specialist knowledge and use judgement to provide useful advice to colleagues and users of the service
- To ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date. This will include the post mortem database, Epic, QPulse and HTA databases
- Liaise with the mortuary manager on all issues pertaining to the delivery of the service and follow through any necessary actions.
- To complete and file patient packs ensuring any new information is added.
- To collect /deliver notes and other patient information as required
- To check and track specimens for cases and collate reports for pathologists
- Admission and release of patients ensuring they are identified and cared for in a suitable manner with appropriate moving and handling
- To participate in clinical audits across pathology as required.
- To ensure UKAS/ISO/HTA standards are adhered to and maintained, assisting with any inspections as they are carried out
- Transfer the deceased to and from other departments and assist with preparation for viewings upon request
- To be able to work as an effective team player and work autonomously to manage own workload
