Mortuary Services Manager Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Mortuary Services Manager to lead our Mortuary team. This post will be based at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. The post holder will be required to Lead and assist in all aspects of Mortuary Services including post mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases and care of the deceased.
Mortuary Services Manager Main Duties
The mortuary service at Barts Health comprise of one mortuary facility based at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
The Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics Division provides diagnostic and screening services for North East London. Our facilities are close to underground and DLR services. The Mortuary service performs approximately 200 post mortems Per annum and is regional referral centre for perinatal cases. The Mortuary is HTA accredited. - Diploma Level 4, Health Care Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology)

- Management Qualification or demonstrable substantive experience

- Substantive mortuary experience
- Experience of perinatal and paediatric autopsy work
- Experience of facilitating viewings for relatives and police
- Experience of assisting in forensic autopsies, Coronal and Consented cases

- Experience of business planning, preparing capital bids, and bids for resources
- A track record of implementing and managing change
- Experience of managing a budget
- Experience of mortuary management
Knowledge
Essential
- Good knowledge of anatomy
- Understands the importance of following standard operating procedures
- Understanding of the Human Tissue Act and how it applies to mortuary work
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation applicable to mortuary work
- Understanding of Trust bereavement procedures and policies
