Senior Health Care Assistant Job Summary

***Multiple Part Time Positions Available***

We are looking for ambitious, dedicated and passionate individuals who have a focus on delivering a high standard of care as a Senior Health care Assistant within an already established and highly motivated team within Urology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Specialist Nurses and existing Health Care Assistantswithin the Urology Directorate at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.

As a Band 3 Health Care Assistant you will be working alongside Specialist Nurses, and all members of theMulti-Disciplinary Team.

You will have the chance to expand your knowledge and skills in this field of Nursing with the opportunity toattend virtual and classroom-based training courses.

You will be well supported by the existing team within Urology to take up this new challenge with a focus on patientpathways and treatments.

 

Health Care Assistant Main Duties

  • To provide and monitor a safe, person-centred care to a designated group of patients, service users andfamilies in a range of care settings under the direction of the specialist nurses, without direct supervision inline with an agreed plan of care.
  • To support the Specialist Nurses by contributing to delivery of care for this group of patients
  • To promote health and prevent ill health in patients and service users and contribute to integrated care
  • To assist in the monitoring of conditions and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with colleagues, families and carers, referring to others for reassessment.
  • To work under supervision of the Urology Specialist Nurses partaking in clinics on the unit as directed.

Job responsibilities

  • To carry out duties as specified in within the Trusts Approved Core Task List for Health Care Assistants qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Care/Health and Social Care.
  • To report to registered staff any patient that gives cause for concern or any observed changes in a patients clinical condition
  • To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a Registered Nurse.
  • To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered Nurse maintaining confidentiality at all times.

 

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Care/Health and Social Care

Desirable

  • Completion of a relevant Health Care Assistant training programme if applicable

Experience

Essential

  • Some previous experience in a nursing/Care Assistant role
