Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) are looking for a dynamic, organised, and efficient Band 3 Healthcare Assistant who will be working within our Primary Care Team at RAF Northolt. There is also an expectation that the Post Holder may be required to work across other sites within the Group Practice (current sites include Northolt and Northwood).
This position is part time and offers 21.5 hours a week.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be working under the direct supervision of the registered Practice Nurse in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The post holder will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care to all patients within the medical facilities Northolt and Northwood as a combined Network. The post holder will assist the registered Practice Nurse when conducting invasive and non invasive nursing procedures. The post holder will also be assisting medical and nursing staff during medical emergencies. The post holder will provide high-quality person-centred care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity using clinical knowledge that is evidence based.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the practice nursing team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
- Supporting the practice team with raising awareness of health and well being and how it can be promoted providing brief interventions.
- Carrying out equipment checks and maintain equipment and ensure stock levels of medical stores including surgical equipment and vaccinations are maintained at appropriate levels.
- Under the direction of registered Practice Nurse undertaking new patient health checks, sample collection, basic wound care, and basic clinical assessments e.g., record temperature, pulse and respiration rates, urine analysis, blood pressure, National Health Service (NHS) over 40s Health Checks, audiometry, blood glucose monitoring, and other observations as directed reporting any abnormalities.
- Preparing and maintaining clinical environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting medical officers/GPs during the performance of minor operations.

Qualifications
Essential
- No professional registration needed but must have experience at the appropriate level i.e. Band 2 or 3. This equates to NVQ level 2 or 3 or equivalent experience. Band 3 roles involve phlebotomy.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Care or Qualification in care and credit framework (QCF). Diploma in clinical health support (level 2/3) (level depending on service
- requirement or, equivalent experience.)
