Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant (Band 2) to join the Intermediate Care Team based at East Riding Community Bedded Unit within East Riding Community Hospital. The Intermediate Care service operates across Hull and East Riding providing care for patients requiring rehabilitation either in a community bedded unit or own home.

Working in an active therapy and rehabilitation unit will give you the opportunity to look after patient requiring level 4 rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation and also patients receiving end of life care. The unit is covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We provide a range of shift such early, late, long day and night shifts.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a band two health care assistant in the East Riding community hospital Community Bed service.

The post holder will be responsible for providing personal care and supporting the rehabilitation of people with complex health needs to enable independence and a safe discharge into the community.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 2 or equivalent level of experience in Health and Social Care
  • Hold Care Certificate or willingness to complete within induction period

Knowledge

Essential

  • Good understanding of basic IT skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of working in a health care environment

Experience

Essential

  • Effective interpersonal skills to work one-to-one with patients
  • Ability to communication with healthcare professionals and patients
  • Ability to deal with potentially challenging and distressed people
  • Experience of prioritising own workload
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills in dealing with face-to face contact
  • Good telephone manner and communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
