Job description

Job responsibilities

Assist the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by a registered nurse.

Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times.

Prepare patients drinks, serve meals and provide assistance as required.

Assist in the emergency resuscitation of patients, following appropriate training.

Escort patients to other areas and departments as per Trust escort protocol.

Maintain high standards of care in an environment which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Key skills – literacy and numeric
  • NVQ II in Direct Care

Physical Skills

Essential

  • Physically capable of performing the role and responsibilities expected of the post holder e.g. manual handling of patients.

Aptitudes

Essential

  • Positive and Enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisplinary team
  • Commitment to personal development
  • Active listening skills

Abilities

Essential

  • Be willing to take part in training and development opportunities.
  • Ability to adapt to change within working situation.
  • Previous care experience desirable but not essential.
  • Able to be flexible in relation to service demands.
