We will work alongside the successful health care assistant candidate to ensure they are sufficiently inducted and trained; there will be regular constructive supervision in place. It is important to us that you feel safe and supported in the role.

  • Youll have previous experience in community outreach or public health initiatives, and will be familiar with NHS Health Checks and its objectives.
  • You will have previous experience of Microsoft Office Applications, and Rota Systems.
  • Youll be able to adapt, and will have sensitively when working with diverse populations.

 

Health Care Assistant Main duties of the job

To conduct Point-of-Care Testing as part of the NHS Health Checks to accurately assess and record the health status of individuals. To travel to various locations across Suffolk and Waveney to provide health checks within community settings, focusing on underserved populations. To engage with local businesses to facilitate health checks in workplace environments, promoting health awareness and preventative care among employees. To identify and screen eligible populations, ensuring comprehensive health assessments are provided to those in need. To collaborate closely with senior administrator to ensure smooth operation and coordination of outreach activities. To accurately document health check results and maintain records in accordance with NHS guidelines and data protection regulations. To assist with dealing with any incidents or complaints that occur within the outreach service. To support and action sock orders. To assist the Senior Admin with any other duties when required

Healthcare Assistant

We are looking for Health Care Assistants to join us on a bank contract, working in our new NHS Health Checks Service.

What is the role?

  • Youll conduct point-of-care testing as part of the NHS Health Checks to assess and record the health status of individuals.
  • You’ll work with diverse populations, increasing the uptake of NHS Health Checks by educating individuals.
  •  You’ll travel across various locations, delivering the health checks to members of the public in community settings.

NHS Health Checks are run and delivered by Suffolk GP Federation. We are a not-for-profit, community interest company and our main purpose is to support Primary Care across Suffolk, including support with working collaboratively and at scale. We also deliver a portfolio of NHS services across Suffolk and North East Essex, including Podiatry, Ultrasound, Diabetes, as well as Urgent Care Services including the Out of Hours face-to-face Service in Suffolk.

Contract type:

This is a bank contract, working across various locations in Suffolk and Waveney. We are looking for shifts to be worked across daytimes, evenings and weekends.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in community outreach or public health initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the NHS Health Check program and its objectives.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
  • Previous exposure or knowledge of Rota Systems, specifically RotaMaster.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office Applications, specifically outlook, word and excel
