The role is varied and includes face to face appointments, home visits, investigations and consulting with the clinicians including the doctors, nurses, ANPs and practice pharmacist. The candidate must be flexible to learn the skills required for General practice. The role is full time, but job share and part time work will be considered. The role is eligible for the NHS Pension scheme.

  • Undertake new patient health checks.
  • Support the practice nurses with health promotion programmes.
  • Conduct baseline observations.
  • Provide home visits for housebound patients.
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
  • Support Health Checks for patients with Learning disabilities.
  • Function as a chaperone as required.
  • Administer vaccinations.
  • Dipstick urines.
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with guidance.
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy.
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.
  • Be responsible for ordering stock.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Maths and English GCSE
  • Qualified to a minimum level 2 in Health and social care
  • Good time management and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of EMIS clinical system.
  • Competent in the use of Office and outlook.
  • Experience
