Job description

Job responsibilities

To work effectively as a member of a team in providing a programme of ward, department or community based therapeutic activities.

To use technical, creative, psychosocial and daily living skills to engage service users in therapeutic activities to promote independence, wellbeing and social inclusion

Under supervision of a registered OT, facilitate/co-facilitate planned group work and individual activities

Contribute to formal OT assessments of service users under the guidance of a registered OT and provide feedback on service users occupational functioning

Under supervision assist and support service users to achieve their goals

To engage in the ongoing assessment and treatment of service users and adjust own clinical interventions based on the fluctuating needs of the service users.

To assist in the implementation, evaluation, and modification of OT interventions

Under the supervision of a registered OT, develop and implement specific socially inclusive projects to meet the needs of service users.

To undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualification pertaining to health and social care, i.e. City & Guilds or Health & Social Care NVQ Level 2 or equivalent skills acquired. Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Experience

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of working in health/social care/teaching setting. Experience of report/letter writing and form filling Experience of training others in technical/ leisure skills Experience of working both independently and in a team, as well as providing group and 1:1 interventions

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

• An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health problems Group work skills Good personal organisation skills Ability to interact with staff of all disciplines and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
