Physiotherapist Job summary
An opportunity has arisen within MY Therapy service to recruit a highly motivated full time (37.5 hours per week) Band 5 Physiotherapist. The successful candidate will work with colleagues, partners, patients and their families/carers in providing rehabilitation in the community thereby preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital / residential settings whilst also facilitating discharges home. MY Therapy also provide therapy to the Wakefield Intermediate Care Unit and Dovecote Lodge providing rehabilitation to patients prior to discharge into the community. The successful Physiotherapist will also have the opportunity to rotate to our specialist neuro, cardiac and respiratory and Long COVID services.
MY Therapy service is a large MDT incorporating Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and support staff. The team will provide an opportunity to be involved in the integration of services to see the delivery of health and social services to Wakefield residents in line with providing care closer to home.

Physiotherapist Main duties
To independently and effectively self manage a defined caseload within the Community Rehabilitation team using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To be responsible for the day to day supervision of junior staff and/or students within the Community Rehabilitation team, designated by the Head Therapist/team leader.
To contribute to the clinical and professional development of the Physiotherapy service within the Community Rehabilitation team
To be flexible in your approach and use of treatment media in order to work across various locations and settings as determined by the needs of the team.

Job responsibilities

- Be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD activities, and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development.
- Maintain and develop current knowledge of evidenced-based practice in the areas of each rotation, developing specialist knowledge of particular conditions and patient types.
- Participate in the staff appraisal scheme as an appraisee and be responsible for complying with your agreed personal development programmes to meet set knowledge and competencies.
- Undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of evidence based practice projects, audit and outcome measures, either individually or with more senior physiotherapists.
- Be an active member of the in-service training programme by attendance at and delivery of in-service training and fully participate in tutorials, individual training sessions and peer review.
- Undertake as directed the collection of data for use in service audit and research projects. Manage and undertake research into specific areas of clinical practice and service delivery using a range of research methodologies as part of MDT audit and departmental research initiatives.
- Be actively involved in professional clinical groups, such as the trust Journal Club, CSP Clinical Interest Groups, Clinical Governance Groups and other professional development activities.
- Provide clinical education and training to physiotherapy students to graduate level on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core clinical areas.
- Provide support guidance and training to more junior physiotherapists and assistants, assessing and evaluating competence.
- Work within Trust clinical guidelines and CSP guidelines and have a good working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate.
- Be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards of practice and Trust policies.
- Maintain a professional appearance in line with the Trust dress code
