We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Health care Assistant to join the team at HMP Leeds, a busy category B prison located in Leeds Centre.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within the Substance Misuse Service. We are looking for someone with a real passion for helping others – this role allows you to make a real difference to patients!    Hours:   This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working a variety of shifts between Monday and Sunday. This role involves working weekends and nights.    Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of £24,670 – £28,691 per annum – depending on experience.   How will we support you?

Health Care Assistant Main duties of the job

As our new Substance Misuse Health care Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
  • Work from an appointment ledger, reviewing patients across the SMS service, including methadone, drug use and withdrawal
  • Carry out reception duties, reviewing new patients to the prison and assessing, including obvs, urine samples etc
  • This role will support the SMS NMP team in delivering medication and care to our substance misuse patients.
  • You will primarily be working within the clinical substance misuse team, although may be required to carry out duties in the primary care team
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary

  • Hold a NVQ Level2 in Healthcare
  • Have experience in a care setting previously – ideally from a hospital or prison setting, experience within A&E would be beneficial
