Support Worker Job Summary
An exciting support worker opportunity has arisen to work with our urology cancer specialist nursing team to support the operational delivery of clinical services, by taking an active role in supporting CNS and MDT teams with the support and management of care pathways for urological cancer patients.
Support Worker Main duties
We are looking for an enthusiastic support worker with good communication and interpersonal skills, good organisational skills, to deliver the following main duties of the cancer support worker role:
Provide information and support to cancer patients
To be a point of contact for cancer patient’s queries, referring and signposting onto appropriate services
Take an active role in contributing towards the development and implementation of cancer survivorship initiatives enabling people affected by cancer to navigate the health and social care system and become self-supportive eg health & well-being events.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE English & mathematics ( Grade A-C)
- NVQ level 4/NVQ level 3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent through short courses
- Foundation degree level training or equivalent
Desirable
- Counselling qualification/ experience
- Evidence of continued role development
- Willingness to undertake Macmillan training where approrpriate
Expereince
Essential
- Relevant health or social care experience at AFC band 3 or equivalent
- Experience of working within a team
- Administrative experience
- Experience in use of data management

- Working with cancer patients
- Experience of talking to patients and carers
- Experience in co-ordinating patient workload
Knowledge

- Knowledge of health and social care environment
