Nurse Assistant Job Summary

An exciting Nurse Assistant opportunity is available for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Public Health Nursing Assistant/Team Administrator.

You will be primarily based at our offices on Orsman Road and will be expected to travel to school sites to carry out the screening and deliver health promotion as needed.

The Nurse Assistant post holder will work within a team for a defined number of schools, and will work under the supervision of the School Health NCMP Coordinator, and lead by the Neighbourhood Leader. You will work closely with the School Nurses in their team. The post holder would also support team administrative team. The percentage of PHNA and administrative work would be subject to service needs.

Nurse Assistant Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

  • The Nurse assistant will be responsible for weighing and measuring all consenting children in Reception and Year 6
  • Enter the heights and weight data onto appropriate IT systems and produce and send feedback letters and relevant information on achieving and maintaining a healthy weight to parents.
  • Plan and manage appointments within schools in a timely manner
  • Plan and deliver health promotion sessions in schools
  • Complete administrative tasks for the Neighbourhood.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or NVQ Levels 3 or other equivalent qualifications
  • Willingness to complete level 2 child protection training

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Document accurate information as required
  • Collect and provide activity data in a timely manner as required
  • Ensure a welcoming approach to children, young people and their families
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to working under direction of senior practitioners
  • Good numerical and written skills

Experience

Nurse Assistant Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel and Outlook

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the community
  • Experience of RIO and School Screener

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding the need for confidentiality
  • Able to work flexibly across teams.
  • Knowledge and awareness of equal opportunities and towards working in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues

Desirable

  • An awareness of School Nursing services and the role of the support worker in this setting.
