Overview

The Swedish Institute Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship is an esteemed academic scholarship for full-time, one- or two-year master’s studies in designated STEM programs taught in English at universities in Sweden. By investing in women in STEM, this scholarship aims to diversify the field, contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and foster a network of future leaders who will advance their home countries.

Eligible Countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam.

Benefits of the Scholarship

The scholarship offers comprehensive financial support to ensure that recipients can focus on their academic and professional growth:

• Full Tuition Coverage: Tuition fees are paid directly to the Swedish university each semester.
• Monthly Stipend: SEK 12,000 per month for living expenses during the study period.
• Travel Grant: A one-time payment of SEK 15,000 for travel costs (not applicable for students already residing in Sweden).
• Professional Development Network: Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) for networking and career-building opportunities.
• Alumni Network Access: Upon completing the scholarship, recipients join the SI Alumni Network, providing ongoing professional development and networking opportunities.

Note: The scholarship does not include insurance, application fees, or financial support for family members. It also cannot be extended or changed for a different program.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the SI Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Citizenship: Must be a female citizen of one of the 10 eligible countries listed above.
• University Admissions: Applicants must apply to one or more designated master’s programs through University Admissions Portal and be admitted (or conditionally admitted) by 27 March 2025.
• Tuition Fees: Must be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities.
• Academic Background: Applicants must not currently hold an SI scholarship or a degree from a Swedish university, nor have lived in Sweden for more than two years prior to the application.
• Dual Citizenship: Applicants with dual citizenship should choose only one eligible country when applying. Submitting multiple applications under different citizenships will result in disqualification.

How to Apply?

Step-by-Step Application Process:

1. Select an Eligible Master’s Program:
   • Explore the list of designated STEM master’s programs here.
2. Apply for the Program: Submit your application through University Admissions
3. Pay the Application Fee and Submit Documents: Ensure the application fee and all required supporting documents are submitted by 3 February 2025.
4. Await Notifications:
   • 27 March 2025: University Admissions will notify you of your acceptance to the master’s program.
   • 24 April 2025: The Swedish Institute will announce the scholarship recipients.
